Molecular Storage System
The MoSS project is about finding a way to store data using DNA, fast enough for enterprise users to start switching their storage media. This project has the potential to store data more densely, durably, and with a better understanding of how to read and write it.
DNA Data Storage
We are able to store data on DNA, which is much smaller than current storage materials. This means that we can store more data in a smaller space using less power.
Saving data onto DNA media takes a really long time when using technologies that were invented for life sciences. In order to make DNA storage practical, we need to make it cheaper and faster.
With MoSS
In this project, we're making new technologies to store data on DNA, based on a novel enzymatic synthesis technique.
Building on results from the OligoArchive project, Helixworks, EURECOM and Imperial College are developing an end-to-end DNA storage system. MoSS has the potential to reduce the cost of DNA synthesis and sequencing and to deploy DNA storage tools in a fully automated workflow.
